1972 Citroen D-special
This 1972 Citroën D Special came to us with a previous respray, but the owner wanted it returned to its original factory finish. The interior was already in excellent condition, and the mechanicals had been sorted, so our focus was on restoring the exterior. One of the unique features of the Citroën D Special is that every painted body panel—including the roof—can be removed while the car remains fully drivable. Taking advantage of this, we completely disassembled the exterior: badges, trim, handles, release mechanisms, lights, and all weather seals were carefully removed. Once stripped, each panel was individually prepped, undercoated, and repainted in our booth, including the wheels. After refinishing, we reassembled the car with new seals and trim pieces, restoring it to its original factory appearance.
The Citroën DS is a front mid-engined, front-wheel drive executive car manufactured and marketed by Citroën from 1955 to 1975, in fastback/sedan, wagon/estate, and convertible body configurations, across three series of one generation. It was known for its aerodynamic, futuristic body design; unorthodox, quirky, and innovative technology, and set new standards in ride quality, handling, and braking, thanks to both being the first mass production car equipped with hydropneumatic suspension, as well as disc brakes.
